Abstract

The study aimed to identify the level of depression among elderly individuals recovering from the coronavirus (COVID-19) in the city of Al-Kufra, and to determine statistically significant differences in their depression levels according to the variables of age, gender, and marital status. The study adopted the descriptive-analytical approach. The sample consisted of 51 elderly individuals (23 males, 28 females) aged between 60 and 100 years. The results indicated that the average responses of the sample on the depression scale items were above average, suggesting the presence of depression among the elderly COVID-19 recoverees from their own perspective. Furthermore, the results revealed statistically significant differences (at a significance level of α = 0.05) in the level of depression according to the studied variables (age, gender, marital status).
